Rainbow Row was once merchant stores in a seedy, dangerous area. In the 1920′s people began resoring them and painting the exteriors in pastel colors. This project led to the restoration of the rest of Charlston and the birth of the Charleston Preservation Society, the first in the nation.

Charleston, South Carolina was founded in 1670. It is a city of many firsts. Did you know that the first College was established here?
